The pancreas is a tough choice. Tom Connell, former chief of general surgery at Bridgeport Hospital lectured on a review of all cases in his career before his death 10 years ago. He only had a single case of pancreatic cancer who lived, and it was found incidentally on open exploration. He died with multiple myeloma, but was able to play golf for some time.
The Sirtuin SIRT-1 is quite interesting, but doesn’t quite sit well. There are too many unknowns. Eduard Siguel (cool foods) worked as a pathologist on the Framingham Study and did extensive work on PUFAs. The types of fat we know are not homogeneous (brown fat in children). The composition of fat is determined by the content of w-6 and w-3 fatty acids. The ratio of the two has an effect on the dominance of inflammatory vs antiinflammatory pathways. We were once taught that linoleic, linolenic and arachidonic acid are essential. Arachidonic is no longer essential, or perhaps conditionally essential.
Dr. Larry,
Thank you for your comment, above.
